Kindle DX is a one of its kind e-book reader set up by Amazon, which gives you access to over 275,000 ebooks available on Amazon. This e-book reader device contains 4 GB internal memory that can store over 3000 e-books quite easily. Kindle DX is almost like a pocket size library with professional and personal, all kinds of information stored in a small equipment. With only 1/3 inch thickness, Kindle DX is as thin as it can get, offering you great convenience and use. Kindle DX will serve good especially for students, newspaper and magazine readers. The large 9.7″ screen display makes reading comfortable for almost every kind of user. The earlier version of Kindle reader built up by Amazon had some limitations which have been taken care by Kindle DX. While some people still believe that this is not an ultimate e-book reader, and there can be many more additions to this in the future, Kindle DX does surpass the old version e-book reader in terms of storage size, larger display and overall appearance. One amongst the best features includes uninterrupted reading without the need of being charged upto two weeks with the aid of wireless connection. Another welcoming change is the inclusion of the native PDF support; saving you email to pdf conversion hassles. Just like the earlier versions, Kindle DX uses the e-ink technology and 16 shades of gray for text which are responsible for good, crisp images. While the price seems eye-popping at $489, the features are pretty much upgraded compared to the earlier versions which makes people rush up to buy this product even at a whooping price of $489. The improved storage capacity of being able to store upto 3500 e-books has pretty much diminished the high cost impact.Kindle DX is a great tool if you are looking for a portable and easy to use e-book reader. Amazon is definitely making some good efforts to get the best e-book reader out there in the market. However, despite all the good features associated with the product, there has been no improvement by Amazon in the connectivity issues that have overwhelmed some of the Kindle owners.

Kindle DX Reviews

Amazon announced their new Kindle DX system earlier on this year and they started shipping the item in June. This new version has a few extra features than its predecessor which was released almost two years ago.Larger Screen & ThinnerFor starters the Kindle DX has a larger screen which is made from an E-Ink display. This distinguishes the screen from reading on say, a computer or an iPod touch. This device is also extremely thin and about the thickness of your ordinary magazine. However do not be fooled by the size because you can store a lot more books and documents in that slim frame.Native PDF ReaderUnlike the earlier version, you no longer have to worry about converting your Portable Document Format (PDF) documents before you can upload them and read them. This one comes with Native PDF reader support already installed, so you just upload your documents and can easily read them.Rotating DisplayAnother cool feature they have added on that I rather like is the rotating display. You know the same feature that Apple has on its iPod touch and iPhone where if you rotate the display the display actually rotates too and you can see your documents in a wider resolution when the device is on its side. Now they are features that they have thrown in there that are still kind of primitive. For example they have included a Web browser which still needs some work on it. Also the text to speech function is included but I also think that this needs a little more work. The price may seem a little steep to the ordinary avid book reader. However for the business people, professionals and academics the Kindle DX maybe a better option as compared to the other versions.

Review of the Amazon Kindle

The greatest thing about the holidays is PRESENTS (just kidding, it is the fact that people are really nice to one another), especially when one of your co-workers gets a really cool one to show off. The Amazon Kindle is one of the more unique and truly eco-friendly products on the market today. Amazon Kindle

The reasons for all the hoopla about the device are varied. The first is conservation. It used to be that the best sources of teaching kids about this great activity were library books. They serve as tools to help kids learn how to read as well as learning about recycling. Conserving and sharing books is vital to paring down on the cutting down of trees.

Second is the technological advancement of how things are read on the Kindle. After staring at my computer screen too long, my eyes tend to freak out. Most of the time when reading an e-book or long paper it becomes necessary to print it out on paper. Amazon Kindle Tell us about your Kindle

Along comes the Amazon Kindle. At first look you think, oh, another gadget. But this one is truly unique. It reads like a book. It has a white background and black lettering with NO GLARE. If you are an older adult, you may not need to put on those reading glasses. The print can be made larger. The Kindle can read some computer documents as well, reducing the eye strain of a monitor.

The Amazon Kindle is most known for its book selection. New books can be purchased at usually more than 50% off the retail price. You don’t have to go onto the computer to download the books either, as it is always connected via Amazon’s Whispernet to Amazon’s bookstore.

When on vacation people lug around 2 or 3 books to read. Instead of doing this, why not take the 10.3 ounce device instead. Even better, download the books you want, it can hold up to 200. You will not have to worry about running out of room. Another great feature is the ability to stay up on all the latest newspapers. Get the NY Times every morning sent right to your hands. Read it over breakfast (without the messy ink of a newspaper).

We really like the Kindles for many reasons. Yes it is a fun and new device with some great features. The best part is the reduction of tree consumption. The overall energy used downloading a book versus driving to the store or library is significantly less. The Kindle saves energy.

How Do I Know Which eBook Reader is the Most Suitable for Me?

When comparing eBook Readers there are a number of factors that one needs to take into consideration. The choices of devices are growing daily and the options on the devices are growing as well. For some people, the number of books the Reader will store is the most important while for others it’s the ease of transport. Therefore, it is imperative that individuals take into consideration as many factors as possible when comparing one model to another.

This article will compare 4 different models and discuss the features of each so that any reader can decide which might be best suited for his or her individual needs.  Comparisons include screen size, weight, wireless capabilities, memory, battery time, and navigation ease. The four models are as follows:

Amazon Kindle 2 eBook Reader – This reader is often referred to as the “next generation reader and features improved ergonomics and navigation.  It has a better display than the original version, and more storage capacity.  The battery life just keeps getting better while maintaining a subscription-Free wireless access to Sprint’s 3G data network.

With Amazon being the primary Kindle Store service, users have the largest choice of eBooks and can, of course, download them for Free, and with the high speed network utilized by Kindle, books can be downloaded most anytime and anywhere.  The service is turned on automatically and requires no monthly service plans, bills or commitments from its customers.  Over 200,000 books are available for downloading which included those on the New York Times bestsellers.  Magazines and newspapers may also be auto-delivered wirelessly.

The Kindle 2 weighs a mere 10.2 ounces and offers a 6 inch screen which means portability is simple and easy.  Approximately 1500 books can be downloaded to the Kindle 2.  Battery time is around 2 weeks.

Amazon Kindle DX – This is a large screen device that is actually 1.5 times larger than the regular Kindle display.  This technology also offers native PDF support and it is probably safe to say that the DX is more suitable for reading electronic versions of newspapers, magazines, and formatted books.

This eBook Reader also has an iPhone-like accelerometer that changes the orientation of the screen when you rotate the Reader.  It offers a 9.7 inch screen and weighs 18.9 ounces making it almost double the weight of the Kindle 2.  The download capabilities of the DX far surpass the Kindle 2 in allowing for up to 3500 books.  Battery time is about 2 weeks.

Sony PRS 700 – This device is somewhat comparable to the iPhone in its touch screen capabilities and turn pages back and forth swiping motion.  It has improved navigation and a faster processor.  A stylus is provided to highlight or search words and make notes.  Much like the Kindle 2 it offers a 6 inch screen and a 10 ounce weight.  The memory of the Sony PRS 700 is 512 Mb and the battery time is about 7500 pages.

Sony PRS 505 – This reader allows you to download books from the Sony bookstore as well as from other eBook online stores.  The Sony bookstore also offers you credit for 100 Free eBook downloads from their Classic collection.  Similar to other eBook Readers, the Sony PRS 505 offers approximately 7500 pages of battery life and like the Sony PRS 700, a 6 inch screen.  It weighs a mere 9 ounces and has 192 Mb of memory.

Fujitsu Flepia

This is the Cadillac of eReaders. It is the first color eBook reader in the world, but you pay for it with a whopping $1,000 price tag. It also offers an 8” touchscreen, Wi-Fi and wireless Bluetooth. You can store books on a 4GB SD card, and you will get 40 hours continuous use from each charge.  If money was no object, this would do what any other eReader does, and then some. According to Digital Book Readers, these new devices are currently being tested as a point of sale (POS) terminal in the Termina Kinshicho Fujiya restaurant in Tokyo as an interactive menu. In addition to allowing diners to select their menu choices by tapping its sexy touchscreen, the device also gives patrons access to train schedules, local weather, and other shopping sites.

BeBook:  Endless Ideas

Endless ideas is a Dutch company, and their BeBook is nothing much to look at with around average functionality. However, it is light at 7.8 ounces, so very easy to carry. It also offers you a choice of fonts that can be changed as you are reading.  Its triple zoom is also a useful feature for an ebook reader in its price range ($300-$350).  It is compatible with a massive range of file formats, and would be useful for open source texts that can come in many disguises.

General

Prices on most devices range from $200 to $500. The best Reader is really a decision based upon your personal needs and preferences.  If you are considering purchasing a Reader, you should spend some time reading customer reviews and testimonials to determine what other users have found to be the most satisfactory or unsatisfactory features about each of the various models.

In a recent review on ConsumerSearch.com, experts placed Amazon’s Kindle 2 overwhelmingly the best eBook reader on the market, commenting “The Kindle 2′s only drawback of note is limited file format support and even this limitation is considered by some to be negligible.” The best budget eReader was the Sony PRS-505.

While Apple’s iPhone is not a dedicated eReader, it is extremely convenient, and can be paired with the Kindle for iPhone application that is available free. With that, users can get access to the Amazon range of titles, but without the range of features available on a dedicated reader.

As technology continues to advance, the eBook Reader is here to stay.  And with the rapid pace of technological advances the options they offer will only get better and better. What that means, however, is that like computers, your reader will be liable to be approaching obsolescence shortly after purchase, although useable nevertheless. With that, however, prices will drop and become more affordable to schools and students.

Anyone who owns or is considering buying a Kindle 2 has no doubt heard of the recent launch of the Kindle DX. If you are the former, this could be a great time to upgrade and if you are the latter, it could be a tough decision you have to make. When you are looking to spend the kind of money the Kindle costs, you don’t want to leap without looking. But if you do your research beforehand, you can be assured you will get the model that works best for you.The older of the two models, the Kindle 2, offers a few less features and is a bit smaller, but also comes with a smaller price tag. The Kindle 2 is 8″ x 5.3″ x 0.36″ and has a 6″ diagonal screen. It weighs just over half a pound at 10.2 ounces and is great as a highly portable ebook reader. The Kindle 2 comes with 2 GB of memory, which can hold around 1,500 books, more than enough to fit most people’s libraries inside. At around $359 it is significantly cheaper than the new DX as well. The new Kindle DX comes onto the market with a bigger is better attitude. The unit itself is 10.4″ x 7.2″ x 0.38″, but it boasts a huge 9.7″ screen with an auto-rotating feature. This means you can switch between landscape and portrait just by turning the device, making it great for newspapers or picture-heavy kid’s books. But this size means it weighs more as well. Nearly twice as much at a hefty 18.9 ounces. The Kindle DX has twice the capacity to hold books, boasting of a 4GB hard drive. It can also natively read PDF files which is a huge convenience as the previous models required file conversion. All these features are available at the price of $489.Don’t think that just because the Kindle DX is newer and sports bigger numbers that it is the only one you should consider. The Kindle 2 has size to its advantage. While the DX might be great for reading at home, the Kindle 2 is far more portable. It will also save you a big chunk of change. If you are willing to pay for the extra size and features, the DX is a great piece of technology. But the Kindle 2 still has more than enough to offer most people. If you are just looking for a way to replace ratty old books or cut down on how many textbooks you’re hauling around, the Kindle 2 has a lot to offer. Whichever one you decide is right for you, you’re getting a device that will keep you reading whatever you want whenever you want.

Amazon Kindle DX Reviews: What Actual Kindle Buyers Are Saying

You won’t have a hard time finding a review of the Amazon Kindle DX if you search, but you will get some mixed results. The Kindle is the most popular ebook reader on the market and as such it has to appeal to a wide variety of people, something which is nearly impossible. While many complaints are due to personal experiences which are fairly uncommon, such as a 12 hour battery not lasting long enough for someone used to transatlantic flights, you will find some valid concerns. While many people may not feel these concerns will affect them, it is still important to address all of them. When you are buying a $500 piece of technology, you want to make sure you know exactly what you are getting.List down the advantages of the DX and you’ll find yourself with a rather long list. The hype surrounding it during its release had some basis after all. First, the Kindle DX sports a huge screen with an auto-rotate feature, and natively supports PDF documents. All these make for a great device for reading newspapers, illustration-heavy books, tables, charts, and maps. Its 4GB of hard drive is large enough for your entire library and then some. The DX also has the sleek design of the Kindle 2 but with a much improved look and feel, and better placement of buttons. But there are still issues, many of which aren’t exactly the fault of the device. The biggest complaint that many users have is the DRM (digital rights management) that Amazon has chosen to use. DRM is widely considered an outdated practice of material protection and unfortunately limits the kinds of documents you can use on your Kindle DX. You are forced to buy from Amazon and you may find that many of your reader files will not work. And if you have a lot of reading material, you will struggle to search through it as the organizational limits of the DX are imposing. If you do manage to fill up that 3,500 book capacity, you may spend most of you time filtering through it looking for the book you want to read. And it is impossible to discuss the DX without mentioning the price. At nearly $500, many people just cannot afford to buy one.All that taken into account, it’s time to take a step back and consider if the Kindle DX is worth having. True, it is one of the most expensive gadgets around given the fact that it’s more of a hobby gadget than necessity, but the features that also come with it as an ebook reading device certainly can’t be easily dismissed. It may have its share of flaws which are quite off-putting for some, but these flaws do not affect 100% of buyers. The bottom line is, the Kindle DX may not be for everyone just yet, but for most of those privileged to own one, their purchase was worth the price.
