Question by : The “Kindle” from Amazon.com?..?
Can someone give me a summary of the Kindle ( How it works, Costs, opinions on it and things like that)
What I Know
It costs $ 299 unless you get the better or different version that costs more. I want the $ 299 one.
There are no monthly fees
You download books? Am I right?
You can store/carry 1,500 books and download over 300,000
Can someone give me a summary of everything about the kindle. I looked at the discription and everything at Amazon but I cant make much sense of it. Do you have to buy individual books or just download them for Free? From what I read it sounds like you buy this thing dowload books for Free(?) and you can read them on it search newspapers and magazines? Do you pay for anything after the $ 299 to actually buy the Kindle? Also the thing about the New York Times Bestsellers, It says something about $ 9.99?? Is it just those books you hve to buy? I’m confused on those parts.
Thanks! I don’t understand all the Wifi and all those other terms on how it works and everything. I’m 14 so please try and explain what those mean. I read alot, probably 7 books a month. Some days i finish a book in a day. I read the whole Twilight series in 5-6 days and i had to get the 3 books at the store during the week and not at the same time. So I read fast and alot and I think it is worth buying this instead of buying individual books that i would read once maybe twice. Can i have your opinion on if you like the kindle?

I own the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. Basically, Amazon produces this device, and it makes a lot of books become available in electronic version. There are over 340,000 Kindle books that we can buy and read on the Kindle right now, and the number of books available is keep on increasing (I remember there are only 270,000 Kindle books when I bought my Kindle a few months ago).
What you need to pay after $ 299 is the content for the Kindle, including books, or newspapers or magainzes. However, the electronic books for the Kindle is cheaper than actual books, and there are also lots of books in the public domain available for Free. If you don’t want to pay anything extra, you can just get the Free books and only read those books.
For new york times, it is now $ 13.99 monthly, much cheaper than paper edition:

I like my Kindle because I can buy books at a cheaper rate compared to actual books, and I can replace all heavy books with this handy device. I can bring it wherever I want to, so I can utilize my time whenever I’ve some free time (like I’m waiting for friends, shuttle bus, or whatever).
I’m an avid reader and at the beginning I missed a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink work very well, it is really like reading books… Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don’t feel tired… And now I prefer to keep and organize all my books on my Kindle rather than organizing all the physical books, it is really much more convenient.
I remember I read these reviews when I decided to get my Kindle. Guess they will help you making up the decision:

Finally, Amazon has announced a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $ 60 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle… So it is a good chance now if you want to get it.
Hope it helps

There is a good simple article here about how does the Kindle work:

So no monthly fee, and it provides free internet access. You only need to pay for the content you want to buy.
If you are thinking of buying a Kindle, I’ll say get it and you won’t regret. Since Amazon provide books for the Kindle cheaper than actual books, it has saved me quite a lot of money. Right now I’ve read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, so even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. My only complaint is the white case, right now all the Kindles are in white color… I think it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle
I’ll suggest you to read this review too, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle:

Hope this helps.

I recommend you to read this review. It explains quite a lot about the Kindle, and is also the best review on the Kindle that I’ve ever read:
