I love kindling for the first chapter because that’s how a Fire starts. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. Why ask for help and ruin all the fun there is in inventing it all yourself?

Best Tablet for a Kid for Christmas?

Amazon Tablet

Question by : Best Tablet for a Kid for Christmas?
My daughter is almost 5. She had a Leapster thingie for a long time but it finally died. For Christmas, I would like to get her a handheld gaming device that does a lot of educational games. I looked at the two new “tablets” for kids (LeapPad and one other one), but I was unimpressed. They seemed clunky and didn’t look like they be very touch-responsive (she always had problems with having to punch buttons multiple times with the stylus on her old Leapster. Plus, apps are too expensive at $ 8-15 each. For a hundred bucks for the tablet and then $ 15 for each game, I figured I would do better to buy her some cheap Droid tablet and use the Android Marketplace for Free educational apps. Five hundred bucks for an iPad isn’t in our price range at all. Neither is $ 350 for a refurb old iPad.

How about this Kindle Fire? I heard the Amazon app store is still underdeveloped… but hey, she is only 5, she doesn’t need every slick new app that was ever made. Or does anyone have any recommendations for a Droid tablet that would cost, say, $ 200 bucks or less, and offer a nice user experience for a kid? Nice responsive screen, etc.? Thanks for any answers!!!

Why not an Ipod touch? it’s a small iPad and children love it.

You are better off spending 50$ or so more for something long lasting and trusted

it's perfect for her even after 5 years , people will still listen to music by then

it's only 199$

Answer by Shahaneh
You should get her the 3DS.

Because you can LOWER the VOLUME of 3D so it does NOT give you headaches for the first time in your life (if you’re the kind of person to ever get headaches from 3D, otherwise just turn the 3D all the way up).

And you can also turn the 3D OFF Completely.

And 3D is good for working out your eye muscles & brain to keep them in shape as shown in this link:

http://www.aoa.org/x17309.xml

And the Nintendo 3DS has downloadable 3D Music videos from today’s American music artist which I have already downloaded the 3 Free 3D Music Videos to watch anywhere and the 3DS has 3D “Blue Man Group” video and College Humor (in 3D) with the Free “Nintendo Video” App that you can download (but its 4 3D Videos at a time and they replace them once in a while) and you can download cheap downloadable 3D Apps & 3D games costing from 99 cents to $ 5.99 and the Nintendo 3DS also has Free downloadable 3D Apps & 3D Games, which I have already downloaded 3 Free 3D Apps and I have downloaded 2 Free 3D Games and the 3DS has a 3D Camera and I have already used the 3DS 3D Camera to take 3D photos and I have uploaded some of my 3D footage online using the Nintendo 3DS’s Web Browser to upload my 3D footage online and I have used my 3DS Web Browser to also download other peoples 3D footage from the Internet on my 3DS Web Browser and I have view all sorts of 3D content on 3D Websites online on my 3DS’s Web Browser and I have use my 3DS 3D Camera to play 3D Augmented Reality games as well and it’s all in 3D without the Glasses using the 3DS 3D Camera and I have beautiful 3D HD graphics that equal to that of a 3D HD version of Wii Graphics and I have Streamed 3D Videos Online on my 3DS in the eShop and I have also Watch 3D Trailers for upcoming 3D movies coming to Theaters in 3D and I have done all of this in 3D Without the Glasses.

So you can pay $ 169 for a Nintendo 3DS and buy the greatest Games ever & all in 3D Without the Glasses like Cave Story 3D and Kid Icarus and Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 using the MOTION SENSORS to play the game like if you were turning a real wheel to turn the Kart left & right and also play such other 8 GB 3D Games like TheatRhytem Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D and Crush 3D and Petz Fantasy 3D and Animal Crossing and Gabrielle’s Ghostly Grove 3D and Nintendogs + cats and the Sims 3 Pets and King of Pirates and Golden Sun 4 and Zoo Resort 3D and Zelda 3D and Sonic Generations 3D and Tetris 3D and 100% of the 3DS games are in HD 3D Without the Glasses.

Also, the screen is perfectly fine, in terms of resolution. Anyway, it’s the pixel density that matters, not the actual number of pixels. The 3DS pixel density is MUCH sharper than an average HD TV of, for example, 32 inches. It’s perfectly fine. Not everything has to be 1080p you know. Since 1080p at 32 inches is worse than just 240p on the 3DS.

And they’re making Angry Birds 3D as a downloadable game.

And the 3DS has DLC (Downloadable Content) like Xbox Live for a bunch of 3DS games to add content to the game cartridge later on.

And 1 of the Free 3D Apps I have downloaded was Netflix.

And Netflix is getting 3D Movies in the next few months, so for $ 169 you can watch 3D movies on the free Netflix App on the 3DS in 3D Without the Glasses.

And 100% of the people who have said that they get headaches from 3D, have said that after up to 1 to 2 weeks of using the 3DS they NO LONGER get headaches anymore and that they now play with the 3D all the way up 100% all the time, non-stop.

But I have never had any problem with the 3D at all, but each person has a different experience with the 3D ON during the first week.

And you can now pay to download Permanent 3D & 2D Videos on the 3DS as shown in this Link:

http://nintendo3dsblog.com/you-can-now-pay-to-have-permanent-access-to-videos-via-the-nintendo-video-application

and you can check this Link below for more 3DS Games:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games

P.S. You will want to check these sites out for the Web Browser’s 3D ability:

http://www.3ds-screenshot.com/

http://gamecrunch.co/3dscreens/

http://3dporch.com/

http://www.klutz.com/static/nintendo/n3ds_mm9.html

http://www.instructables.com/3ds/

And the 3DS is getting a Wi-Fi Update this NOVEMBER to RECORD 3D Videos and upload it to YouTube and all of this in the 3DS this November by hooking your 3DS up to a Wireless Internet Connection like Wi-Fi or your own Home Internet or the Library and so fort during November as shown in this Link.

http://nintendo3dsblog.com/3d-video-recording-allows-you-to-record-for-10-minutes-has-support-for-youtube

Answer by accorn34
Yes you should totally go for the Fire.
It’s just as good as the ipad for a fraction of the price.. and the screen is extra hard, which would be good for a kid since they can be tough on a device icon smile Best Tablet for a Kid for Christmas? .

You can get a good deal and pre-order one here:

http://www.shoppersource.net/goto/kindle_fire

The android marketplace already has tons of apps considering they haven’t even officially shipped the Fire – and since amazon is about to take over the tech world with this device, I wouldn’t worry about the selection as it’s going to grow fast.

Also, since the Kindle fire browser supports flash, she will be able to use educational flash game sites right on the Kindle fire too.

The “Kindle” from Amazon.com?..?

Posted in Kindle Fire on January 13th, 2012 by – Be the first to comment

New Kindle

Question by : The “Kindle” from Amazon.com?..?
Can someone give me a summary of the Kindle ( How it works, Costs, opinions on it and things like that)

What I Know
It costs $ 299 unless you get the better or different version that costs more. I want the $ 299 one.

There are no monthly fees

You download books? Am I right?

You can store/carry 1,500 books and download over 300,000

Can someone give me a summary of everything about the kindle. I looked at the discription and everything at Amazon but I cant make much sense of it. Do you have to buy individual books or just download them for Free? From what I read it sounds like you buy this thing dowload books for Free(?) and you can read them on it search newspapers and magazines? Do you pay for anything after the $ 299 to actually buy the Kindle? Also the thing about the New York Times Bestsellers, It says something about $ 9.99?? Is it just those books you hve to buy? I’m confused on those parts.

Thanks! I don’t understand all the Wifi and all those other terms on how it works and everything. I’m 14 so please try and explain what those mean. I read alot, probably 7 books a month. Some days i finish a book in a day. I read the whole Twilight series in 5-6 days and i had to get the 3 books at the store during the week and not at the same time. So I read fast and alot and I think it is worth buying this instead of buying individual books that i would read once maybe twice. Can i have your opinion on if you like the kindle?

I own the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. Basically, Amazon produces this device, and it makes a lot of books become available in electronic version. There are over 340,000 Kindle books that we can buy and read on the Kindle right now, and the number of books available is keep on increasing (I remember there are only 270,000 Kindle books when I bought my Kindle a few months ago).

What you need to pay after $ 299 is the content for the Kindle, including books, or newspapers or magainzes. However, the electronic books for the Kindle is cheaper than actual books, and there are also lots of books in the public domain available for Free. If you don’t want to pay anything extra, you can just get the Free books and only read those books.

For new york times, it is now $ 13.99 monthly, much cheaper than paper edition:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D15%26ref%255F%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D18%26field-keywords%3D%26url%3Dnode%253D165389011&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

I like my Kindle because I can buy books at a cheaper rate compared to actual books, and I can replace all heavy books with this handy device. I can bring it wherever I want to, so I can utilize my time whenever I’ve some free time (like I’m waiting for friends, shuttle bus, or whatever).

I’m an avid reader and at the beginning I missed a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink work very well, it is really like reading books… Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don’t feel tired… And now I prefer to keep and organize all my books on my Kindle rather than organizing all the physical books, it is really much more convenient.

I remember I read these reviews when I decided to get my Kindle. Guess they will help you making up the decision:

http://www.speedreaderxreview.com/amazon-kindle-20-review-speed-readers-complete-thoughts-on-this-hot-new-device

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR2DUM7S4XW06QN%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ASIN%3DB00154JDAI%26nodeID%3D%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Fpr%255Fcmt&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

Finally, Amazon has announced a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $ 60 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle… So it is a good chance now if you want to get it.

Hope it helps icon smile The Kindle from Amazon.com?..?

Answer by Mike P
There is a good simple article here about how does the Kindle work:

http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Does-the-Kindle-2-Work?&id=2003315

So no monthly fee, and it provides free internet access. You only need to pay for the content you want to buy.

If you are thinking of buying a Kindle, I’ll say get it and you won’t regret. Since Amazon provide books for the Kindle cheaper than actual books, it has saved me quite a lot of money. Right now I’ve read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, so even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. My only complaint is the white case, right now all the Kindles are in white color… I think it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle icon wink The Kindle from Amazon.com?..?

I’ll suggest you to read this review too, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR9J54TZ1541OR%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

Hope this helps.

I recommend you to read this review. It explains quite a lot about the Kindle, and is also the best review on the Kindle that I’ve ever read:
