Question by Lenny: Song on Amazon’s “Kindle” commercial? Not Annie Little?
There’s a new Kindle commercial and I really like the song in it, but I can’t find what the song is. Its not the commercial with Annie Little’s “Fly Me Away”. The new one has a guy in it and the lyrics go “you stole me heart and i’ll steal yours too”. Any help?

Kindle Reviews

Question by : Does anyone on here own a Kindle?
What do you think of it? I’m thinking of getting one. But I don’t trust “user reviews” on websites that sell it.
Give me pros, cons, areas for improvement, ease of use, etc.
Thanks.

And please don’t point me to a website. I’m already at one asking this question.

I own the Kindle 2, so let me give you some of my opinions. I’ve to say I love it! I think I’ve read over 30 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far!

One of the reasons I love my Kindle is that it has helped me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I have the Kindle, waiting time like when I’m waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me, and all my favorite books are inside it. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which means I can “read” books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I’ve myself busy on some boring things, say when I’m on the step machine or doing some housework…

I like reading and at the beginning I did miss a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very well, it is really like reading books… Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don’t feel tired… And I now prefer to manage all books inside the Kindle rather than my never big enough bookshelf… And like to do bookmarking, annotation, dictionary lookup without any additional thing but a Kindle.

There are quite a lot of Free books, and many Kindle books, magazines and newspapers are cheaper than the actual paper version. I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:

Finally, guess you know, Amazon has just put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $ 100 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle, and it adds in international wireless access… So take the chance if you want it.

Hope it helps icon smile Does anyone on here own a Kindle?

I love my Kindle 2 very much. If you’re considering to get the Kindle, just get it and you won’t regret. Right now I’ve read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, it is really clear like reading books; and even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. My only complaint is the white case, right now all the Kindles are in white color… I think it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle icon wink Does anyone on here own a Kindle?

I suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is also a book lover, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR9J54TZ1541OR%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

BTW, there are some website like this one, where you can find more than 20,000 Free books for the Kindle. So no need to go to library to Borrow them, you can actually own them:

Hope this helps.

New Kindle

Question by billbutterbutt: do thing the new “amazon Kindle” book computer will eventually cause bookstores to be no longer?
u think that going to the bookstore and buying a paper book will cease with technology?

Best answer:

Answer by Please, use the SEARCHBAR
Hopefully not. Give me a book over a computer any day.

Answer by onlyoctobergirl
Not for a very long time if at all. I, for one, think a book cannot truly be enjoyed unless you can feel the pages, smell the book smell. Reading, for me, is not only intellectual, it’s a tactile experience that no e-book machine can ever replicate. There are a lot of other people out there who feel the same, I’m sure.

Answer by Elizabeth Cody
Maybe if it ever becomes infeasible to print books on the scale we do now, but all things considered, there’s a magic to curling up with cocoa, your cat, and a good thick book that that little machine just can’t replicate icon smile do thing the new amazon kindle book computer will eventually cause bookstores to be no longer?

Answer by Jim W
It’s been out for awhile, but I’ve never seen anyone using one.

Short answer: No.

E-Books are available for download from most libraries, but I don’t know anyone who even bothers. Why would people pay for this if they don’t even use it when it’s Free?

The one exception might be for school textbooks. If they ever put textbooks on Kindle, the ability to carry everything around at once might make this attractive.

Answer by Princess brainnbabe T
no way!!!!!!!!paper books are gonna be around forever man! there are too many people that enjoy reading them by hand. i dont want to read some tiny font print on the computer and have to lean to get close enough to the computer. books come alive and seem so much more real when you read them by hand.
however some peole will switch over to computer books. but that is only a minority.

“Kindle Fire” or “Ipod Touch”?

Kindle Fire

Question by : “Kindle Fire” or “Ipod Touch”?
I either want the Kindle Fire or The Ipod Touch. How large is the app store for the Kindle fire and overall how does it stand up to the ipod touch? I AM NOT COMPARING TO THE iPad. these two products are the same price and that is why I am looking for a comparison. thanks for all opinions!

iPOD TOUCH!!!!

ITs just AWESOME!!

and its popular.

the kindle fire isn’t popular.

Answer by mastrsushi
It’s apples and oranges bro. Basically what I’m saying is they are 2 totally different devices. Kindle is a tablet and ipod touch is a well ipod touch lol. Kindle fire’s got a custom version of android 2.3 gingerbread. unfortunately you cannot get acces to the android marketplace store. Instead it’s got an amazon store and stuff. I’m sure if you are handy with tech stuff u could root the device to run the latest android update. Spec wise, obviously the kindle has a bigger screen, twice the ram (512 mb) 1ghz dual core processor a micro usb port (something idevices will probably never have lol) and i think it has a better gpu because the ipod touch has something called a PowerVR SGX535 GPU while the kindle fire has a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. Basically the kindle fire is way more bang for your buck. But it depends on what you are looking for in a device. A smaller more portable device or a bigger screen and better specs?

Answer by TheTruth
Hi, Super, iPod has much smaller screen thus you’ll ruin your eyes. Since Barnes & Noble announced the brand new Nook Tablet device, Kindle Fire lost all its glory. Nook Tablet is clearly the superior device over the other devices in its class. Here’s a quick side-by-side of just released next generation Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble vs. Nook Color and Kindle Fire:
- Nook Tablet has a dual-core processor vs. single core of Nook Color
- Nook Tablet has 1.0 GB of RAM (memory) vs. 512 MB of both Nook Color and Kindle Fire
- Nook Tablet has 16 GB of capacity to store content vs. 8 GB capacity of both Nook Color and Kindle Fire
- Nook Tablet’s battery is rated for 11.5 hours of reading and 9 hours of video playback on one charge vs. 8 hours or reading and 7.5 hours of video of Kindle Fire and Nook Color
- Nook Tablet has microSD card slot to expand the capacity by another 32 GB for videos/photos/ebooks vs. no expandable slot of Kindle Fire
- Nook Tablet has the world’s most advanced fully non-glare laminated HD screen with the best viewing angles on the market vs. no anti-glare coating of Kindle Fire
- Nook Tablet comes loaded with optimized Netflix, Hulu Plus for streaming of millions of movies and shows vs. none of those available on Kindle Fire
- Nook Tablet has a built-in microphone thus it can be used with Skype for voice conferencing and for dictations with speech recognition software vs. no mic on Kindle Fire or Nook Color.
- Nook Tablet weights only 14.1 oz vs. 14.6 oz of Kindle Fire and 15.8 oz of Nook Color.
Also it’s worth mentioning that if you walk in with any Nook to Barnes & Noble store, you’re allowed to read ANY available eBook for Free while in the store via Free provided in the store Wi-Fi where Nook eBook store has over 2 million of paid books and about the same number of Free public domain books. Nook already has Cloud as your ebooks are stored in your online library as well as downloaded to your device. For streaming movies and shows, it has Netflix and Hulu’s Clouds with much better content that Amazon could ever hope to offer.

New Kindle

Question by Maddi: when does amazon’s “Kindle” get new books?
i am going to get one of amazon’s Kindle, but they don’t have many of the books i want. does anyone know if they will update their stock before september of this year? i’d love to be able to have one, but there are SO few of the books i want on there. for instance, “the outsiders,” a classic, is not on there. none of s.e. hinton’s books are. and lots of the ones i want aren’t.
thanks to the first poster, but the reader has less books that i’m looking for than the kindle.

Have you looked at the Sony Reader? You can browse its ebook store online (follow the link below), and you can also download from any site that has Sony Reader format, PDF, text, .rtf, or .doc files.

I’m not trying to talk you out of the Kindle, it’s just something to consider, and I rather like my Reader.
